THE COUNCIL HELD ITS 190TH MEETING ON 17 MAY 2000

The Council considered a report from the working group established to manage its transition to the Consumer Council for Postal Services (CCPS) and determined the way forward on a number of issues.

The Council considered a further draft of the Memorandum of Understanding that will govern the relationship between the CCPS and the Postal Services Commission.

The Council approved the provisional budget allocations for 2000-2001 and had reports on research projects and Post Office quality of service results

The Council received reports from the Chairmen of the Post Office Users Councils for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on their activities and a report from the Executive on its activities since the last meeting.

The Council had a presentation from Stuart Sweetman (Post Office Group Managing Director, Customer and Banking Services) on issues facing The Post Office over the next ten years or so and on issues facing the network of post offices in particular.

We will meet reasonable requests for further information about the Council meeting.
